Obituary of Susan Gendts Charter

Susan Gendts Charter, 65, lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on December 21st after a heroic but brief battle with Leukemia. Sue was born April 5, 1956 to the late Ralph and surviving wife, Eleanor Gendts. 
Sue was quiet and gentle with a fun spirit, loved by all. With endless laughs and deep friendships her love was generous and full. Her character was shaped by kindness that touched many hearts. Her friendships remained lifelong. Sue’s childhood was spent happily taking annual family trips to Lake George. She had a strong bond and connection with her siblings and mother. Susan studied nursing, having a strong desire to help others. Heaven received an angel when she passed away.  
In 1984, Susan married Kenneth Charter. Together, they spent 36 amazing years before Kenneth passed on April 3, 2020. They were avid animal lovers and cared deeply for many dogs they adopted during their time together. Susan and Kenny spent their time tending their garden, working on their house, and walking their dogs, always together and always with a smile.  
Susan was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and two stepsons, Kenneth, and Kyle Charter. She is survived by her mother, Eleanor Gendts, her sister Katherine Fontanella and husband Gene, and brother, Ralph Gendts Jr., all of Poughkeepsie.  She is also survived by her two stepsons Gregory Charter and wife Alesia of Poughkeepsie, Roy Charter, and fiancé Crystal Storms of Hyde Park, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial services will be held at a date to be announced.
