Obituary of Michael F. DeCiutiis
Michael F. DeCiutiis, 65, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on July 26, 2022, while he was walking his dog, Jolene, one of the most enjoyable parts of his day. We are thankful for this beautiful ending to his long battle, which he never once complained about.
He was born on April 2, 1957 in Newburgh, NY to the late Nicholas and the late Mary “Molly” Ring DeCiutiis.
Mike was a proud local resident all of his life, and a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. Mike worked for the City of Poughkeepsie Parks and Recreation Department, a job he truly loved. He enjoyed taking care of all the various sports fields in the city and watching the games, while interacting with everyone along the way. He retired in 2012 after 37 years of service, having made many lifetime friends.
Mike was a talented musician, a natural guitar player ever since he started playing at the age of 14. He performed in many bands over the years from high school up through this year. Since 2000, he had so much fun entertaining everyone with Bernie & Mike plus Dan, a hit at local restaurants and parties.
Mike made the most of life and had a perpetually positive outlook in any situation, even during his health troubles. He was so proud of his two sons and enjoyed spending time with them, always excited to help with a project at their homes, head to a car show or find any reason to get together. Mike was known for riding around the city in his Jeep Wrangler, never without his Basset Hounds, Ernie and then Jolene. He always looked forward to multiple annual trips to NYC with his brother Nick, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Mountain Jam, as well as an annual visit to Saratoga racetrack with his father and sons.
Mike is survived by his son and daughter in-law Craig M. and Shauna DeCiutiis, of Pleasant Valley; son Michael J. DeCiutiis, of Poughkeepsie; granddaughter Annalise DeCiutiis; brother and sister in-law Dan and Laurie DeCiutiis, of Red Hook; several cousins and many friends.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and brother Nick DeCiutiis.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday August 11th from 5pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
Graveside Services will be held 12pm Saturday August 13, 2022 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Road, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603.
