I was in the 7th grade, back in 1977, and was on the playground being picked on by an 8th grader. It was then that this kid walked up, and stood between me and that 8th grade boy and told him to leave me alone. A split second later, the 8th grader punched that kid right in the face!! John and I became fast friends after that. He would become fast friends with Woody and Wayne. That would round-out our circle of friends for many years. Later Troy would become near and dear friends with John!!
I miss our teenage years, where John and I would imagine ourselves as Starsky and Hutch. I had the dark, curly hair, so I was Starsky. John, with his straight light brown hair, was Hutch. In later years, we became Hall and Oates. Can you guess who played who? John loved music so much. I remember when Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA came out, John would sing that song loud and proud with the radio. I just have too many memories to share. I want to sing each and everyone of those memories loud and proud to all. I love John. He is my bro. Loyal and brave. He was a confidant and trusted mentor to me. His level-headed thinking often overtook my impulse-kneejerk-stubborn reaction to things, and brought me down to earth. He was a true friend.

What can I say about John. I was introduced to him in 1999 when I began my career at IBM. He has always been so kind and respectful towards me. My last conversation was back in July this year when he needed help with resetting his SAP id. Who knew that would be my last time talking to John. John you will be greatly missed by so many. Rest in peace until we meet again!!

John was revered by his peers, especially his classmates at the academy, members of the graduating class of 1984, and earned lifelong respect and admiration of all whom encountered him. His undying support, guidance, and friendship was akin to a lantern in the night. May you be comforted, as we will be, with fond memories of his service and friendship.

We have been John's neighbors for many years. After John moved to his home and then in my daily walks I would see John working in his yard and we would stop and talk. This led to our friendship with John, my husband and myself.
John was a kind and thoughtful person and always interested in what we were doing including travels, yard work and his trips abroad or visiting his family.
We will deeply miss him and his company, conversations and his sincere friendship.
