Our families grew up next to each other. My dad and Aunt Irene,were siblings and their parents lived down the street.
There were many a gathering at our houses. Uncle Harry was a hoot to say the least. At family barbeques he was like one of the kids. My favorite memory of him was one Christmas eve, Santa showed up to visit with all the kids at our house. We all suspected Grandpa Mason was Santa, until Santa showed up and Grandpa was sitting right there. Grandpa wasn't Santa after all. So, Santa gave us kids our gifts and on his way out the door, someone gave Santa a shot for the road, and Santa proceeded to pull his beard down and down the shot. Obviously, some of us kids witnessed this and said "Uncle Harry is Santa Claus". We all have great memories of growing up on the same street.
