I was greatly saddened to learn of Rosemarie’s death. We were neighbors in Pleasant Vally during the ‘50s and ‘60s—her family lived at the top of the hill on West Road, and my family lived a short distance away, down the hill on Martin Road. I would bike to her house. Their chicken farm was immaculate and it is there that her mother showed me how and why eggs were candled-- some eggs had double yolks. Rosemarie introduced me to the accordion, an instrument I had never seen before. I couldn’t understand how she could play the instrument with what looked like a shortened piano keyboard on one side and a series of buttons on the other, while simultaneously moving the bellows in the middle, back and forth.
Rose always had a smile and was fun to be with. I am happy that she and I had time to reconnect and talk at our Arlington High School Class of ’67’s 50th (and last) class reunion. She talked about her family. She was especially proud of her son who worked for The Ellen DeGeneres Show and how happy she was that he had found a nice person to spend his life with.
My condolences to Rose’s family and friends. Her name is a perfect reflection of who she was: sweet and beautiful.

Rest in peace to this dear lady, Rosemarie Wright. She gave me my typing test when I interviewed for my first job with NYS. Before I took the job, I called the main number, asked for “the secretary” and then asked her on the QT if New York State had domestic partner benefits, and she cheerfully told me “yes they do!” Upon her retirement I was gratefully able come back to ACCES-VR with some big shoes to fill! She was a very dedicated employee who loved her co-workers. I used to love calling her from the front desk just to make a snarky joke to make her laugh! I remember a few of our work picnics where she and I had too much dessert! Even after her retirement, Rosemarie loved coming to our work parties and luncheons.
Mal also loved kidding around with Rosemarie at her and Dave’s house. Mal would “complain” to her about “Intheway,” Sami’s giraffe, and Rosemarie would crack up. Mal and I wete so happy to dance with Rosemarie at our wedding; we had many laughs together
We also took care of all of the furkids when she and Dave would travel to his military events.
Rosemarie loved life and fought a long, hard battle with all of her health challenges for a very long time. She was one of the world’s greatest mothers. She was so proud and in love with her granddaughter Sami. And Rosemarie’s husband Dave tended to her every need throughout her very numerous health issues and was an extremely devoted caregiver.
I know she’s in heaven in her mother’s loving arms. Run with your furkids, Rosemarie! Xox

Rosemary and I worked at Pastry Land together many years ago. We would share rides to the carousel on Friday nights. I would even help her feed the chickens so we could go out and party.
