Carolyn Wilson

Obituary of Carolyn C. Wilson

Carolyn (Carol) Wilson, 83, originally from Poughkeepsie, passed away on July 19, 2024, in Coconut Creek, Florida.
Carol was born in Poughkeepsie to Clara (Pierce) Mulder (later Flanagan) and Karl Cornelious Mulder on September 3, 1940. Carol met her husband, Frederick (Freddie) Wilson Jr. at Poughkeepsie High School where she was a majorette.
Shortly after graduating they married and remained inseparable until her passing (about 67 years total!). They were partners in family first, and restaurants second.
Carol helped run and was co-owner of Club 44 (1960’s) and Frederick’s of Hyde Park Restaurant (1982 - 2003). In addition to her role as co-owner, Carol worked as a server, and chef in the latter part of her career. She also enjoyed various hobbies throughout her life: slots at the casino, golf, hairstyling, jarring of jam, pickles and sauces, knitting, and pottery. Not surprisingly, she was exceptionally good at all of these – apart from the slots! When she originally retired to Fort Pierce, she wanted to continue to brighten up the lives of others and worked part-time at the Boudrias Orange Grove Store in Ft. Pierce for almost 20 years.
However, her biggest passion and accomplishments in life were her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known affectionally as “Meese” to her grandchildren. She dedicated her life to, and loved dearly, Freddie, her high school sweetheart. Even when she was ill in the hospital, she kept asking if Freddie had eaten and taken his nap. There wasn’t a day that went by that Carol wasn’t brightening up her family and friends with her contagious smile and laughter.
Carol is survived by: her husband Freddie, her daughters Tammy (John) Libretti and Catherine (Steve) Poole, her sons Rick (Elena) Wilson and Monte (Marita) Wilson; her grandchildren: Anthony (Aerin), Maddie, Carolina (Ignacio), Cristy, Erick, Brittany (Martin), Olivia (Shane), Stephen, Savanah, and Jack; her great grandchildren: Roman, Mateo, Hudson, Iggy, Dean and Julieta; and her brother Doug (Marge), and sisters Yvonne (Will), Nancy (Jim) and Gwen (Bill). She was predeceased by her brothers Richard and Donald Mulder, and her sister Virginia Jean McKenzie.
The family of Carol Wilson wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ron and Beth Reis and Renae Sharpe who provided so much valuable assistance for the medical care of Carol.
