Obituary of George M. Meikle

George M. Meikle, 72, passed away on September 21, 2024 in
Poughkeepsie. He was born on August 7, 1952 to George and Marion
(Syso) Meikle in Washington D.C. His family moved to New York City,
where he graduated high school from Charles E. Gorton High school
in Yonkers.
George married Marian Dentato on February 16, 2012, in a ceremony
out in Pennsylvania.
George worked for and retired from Westchester County Corrections,
where he was an active member of the Emerald Society.
He was also a very active member of the Elks, being a proud and loyal
knight, once even being recognized as Elk of the year in lodge 275.
Besides his many social memberships, he also loved his Boston
Celtics, New York Giants and New York Yankees, even playing quite a
bit of baseball in his younger years. But above all, he especially loved
attending and cheering on his granddaughters at their sporting
events and school functions.
George is survived by his wife, Marian, along with daughter Stacey
and Adam Hinkel of Poughkeepsie, his granddaughters Emma,
Gabriella and Hanna. He also will be missed by all seven of his step
children, in which he had a huge part raising to be who they are
today. He is also survived by his sister Cathy and Emil Stella.

from 2pm to 6 pm at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin de Porres
Poughkeepsie on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 9:30 am.
