Obituary of David A Bersak
David A. Bersak, born on February 26, 1950, in New Jersey to Evelyn and Seymour Bersak, passed away on October 28, 2024, at Weill Cornell Hospital in Manhattan after a long, arduous battle with various health challenges. He was 74 years old.
Dave married his beloved wife, Carolyn, on May 27, 1973, after meeting at a Jewish singles event in NYC. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage, sharing a deep bond filled with love, travel, and family. Their winters in Florida and countless home projects brought them joy, but nothing compared to the time spent with their children and grandchildren. Dave’s greatest aspiration was to provide for his family in ways he had not experienced growing up.
A proud graduate of the University of Miami (1971) and Pratt Institute (Master’s in Urban Planning, 1975), Dave began his career as a City Planner in Poughkeepsie, NY. He later became the development director for several nonprofits, which he found deeply fulfilling. After two decades in planning, he transitioned to real estate, where he thrived in home building and mortgage loan origination.
Dave is survived by Carolyn, their children Jennifer (Josh) and Michael (Stephanie), and grandchildren Anders, Hayes, Avery, and Eliza.
Remembered for his fantastic sense of humor and unwavering drive, Dave lived a rich and satisfying life, filled with pride in his family.
