Obituary of Frank Nelson

Frank B. Nelson, 93, of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away suddenly at home on December 28, 2024. He was born at home to Frank and Edna (Becker) Nelson in Clinton Hollow, New York on June 29, 1931.

Frank lived a remarkable life, one defined by hard work, dedication, and a strong sense of family and community. After years of delivering milk for Half Moon Farms, he enlisted and began serving his country with honor in the United States Army. Later, he went on to build a successful career, owning and operating Easystreet Cleaning, Inc. in Poughkeepsie for over 40 years. His commitment to his business and his clients earned him lasting respect in the local community.

Frank is survived by his wife, Lynn Valley Nelson of Poughkeepsie; his son, Scott Nelson (Penny) of Madisonville, TN; his daughter, Karla Nelson of Poughkeepsie, NY; his daughter, Carol Savelli of Albany, NY; his daughter Beth (Valley) Heady of Rhinebeck, NY; his son Bruce Valley (Sophia) of Holly Springs, NC; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Frank was also was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Marie Swenson, nephew Paul Swenson, and sons Craig F. Nelson and Bryan Valley. 

Known for his warm heart and steadfast loyalty, Frank was a man whose friends were like family. His "1 N Run" approach to life was a testament to his determination and straightforwardness, always getting the job done with grace and integrity.

Frank was a proud life member of Poughkeepsie Elks Lodge #275, a member of the American Legion Post 1302, Moose Lodge 904, and a past volunteer of the Salt Point Fire Company. 

He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. His presence in the lives of those who knew him will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the countless lives he touched.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 3rd from 4pm-8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave, Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4th at 10:30am at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
