Obituary of Katherine M. O'Donnell

Katherine M. O’Donnell, 91, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025 in Hudson, FL. Katherine was born in Poughkeepsie on April 15, 1933.  Education was Katherine’s passion.  Katherine attended elementary and high school in Poughkeepsie.  She attended college  and graduated with a BS from SUNY Buffalo, her MA from the University of Minnesota and her Doctorate from the Teacher’s College at Columbia University in New York City.  Her employment took her from teaching young children to adult education at Bank Street College in NYC.  Katherine lived most of her adult life in Manhattan.  She loved the electricity of the city along with all of the cultural opportunities.  Katherine’s life was filled with fantastic friends, family, colleagues and some amazing travel.  Her trips covered much of the globe with her trips to Nepal being some of her favorites.  She also loved traveling to Ireland to visit cousins. Katherine never married or had children of her own but is survived by nieces Maureen Johnston of Spring Hill, FL, Rosemary Mascarenhas of Wappingers Falls, NY and nephew John (Anne) O’Donnell of Poughkeepsie and 4 great nephews, Sean and Nicholas Mascarenhas, Tyler and Ian O’Donnell.  She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary McVeigh O’Donnell and her brother John M. O’Donnell.
